This big beautiful building often featuring 87 flags of EU nations is a required visit, grandly taking up a large portion of the Grote Market square. Dit grote mooie gebouw waaraan vaak 87 vlaggen van EU lidstaten hangen, is eigenlijk verplichte kost. Het gebouw beslaat een groot deel van de Grote Markt. Het stadhuis werd in de jaren 60 van de 16e eeuw gebouwd in Italiaanse en renaissance stijl en diende als inspiratiebron bij de bouw van vele overheidsgebouwen in Noord- en Midden-Europa. Als een van de belangrijkste renaissancegebouwen in het land, verdiende het een plek op de Werelderfgoedlijst van UNESCO. @nl |
